Leaving Maesot

I watched the Asian highway

Slide past the early morning heat

And through my sore sleepy eyes

I saw a stream of light falling from the clouds.

North, east, south, or west. Where it landed I do not know.

In my mind map of Mae Sot I can tell.

Only that it fell somewhere near Minmahaw.

It flickered in the distance

Yet in memory it burns with flavour still

I rub my eyes and sigh, wishing no new scene to

Fall before my sight.

Somewhere over the rainbow plays in my head, round and round.

Kind, sweet and gentle hearted.

Growing with a golden soul more valuable than

Anything.

It is a wonderful dream.

Somewhere over the rainbow, untouchable.

Moving in memory, frozen in the past.

Sea food hot pot... mmmm!
